Make your dream come true

Since the arrival of the global pandemic, we have been hit hard with the emotional effects of future uncertainty. The increase of stress due to financial pressures, social isolation and lack of personal control has been significant. Those who usually enjoy a lack of anxiety may have experienced it for the first time. For those with pre-existing challenges with mental health, lockdown has been catastrophic.

Thankfully—there are many simple ways that you can take great care of your emotional health each day. Instead of feeling as if our mood is something that occurs beyond our control, we can place ourselves powerfully back in the driving seat. You do not need to be dominated by stress and anxiety. You hold the innate ability within you to make positive change in order to experience the kind of joy and wellbeing that you truly deserve.

An empowering first step is to acknowledge how you are feeling. Release the pressure and misery of trying to conceal your anxieties by validating their true existence. Our feelings crop up to communicate a message to us. They are an integral part of our deeper intuition. By validating their presence we can hope to discover the true cause of our emotions. How are you feeling right now? What may have caused your thoughts and emotions within this moment?

Next up, set aside some undistracted time to reflect. This could be half hour to yourself before bedtime. Or you could rise a little earlier than the rest of your household in order to gently check in with yourself. Find a relaxed corner to sit quietly without your smartphone or any screens in view. Engage in some simple mediation practice or spend some time journaling to release your thoughts. There is no ‘wrong’ way of doing this. Simply release your feelings within a safe space.

Make a regular habit of checking in with yourself in this way. Try teaming this ritual up with a fun and self-loving action to follow it. You could take a soothing bath, prepare a favorite meal, or call a friend who never fails to make you feel uplifted. This will send a powerful message of self-love to your inner consciousness. These are impactful signals to your psyche that you are safe and free from immediate harm which will ultimately lessen the release stress hormones in your system.

If you are feeling significantly (and regularly) overwhelmed at the moment then it might be time to ask for further support. Speak to a trusted friend or family member who you will listen to your perspectives without judgement. You may find that the support of a specialist life coach www.drsharonyost.com could make an incredible measure of difference to how you are thinking and feeling right now.

Never forget—you deserve to feel the very best of yourself. Starting now and continuing today!
